**Governance Specialist**
**Total Package $125,601 per annum (inclusive of superannuation)**
Here is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic and close-knit Governance and Procurement Team which takes great pride in delivering expert advice and guidance to Western Australia’s Local Government sector.
The Team’s purpose is to facilitate our member Local Governments’ understanding of statutory compliance obligations and to encourage the adoption of better practice governance frameworks. We do this by maintaining a modern suite of advice materials and procedural templates, provided both free of charge and under a subscription service.
There will be opportunities to travel throughout WA to deliver customised workshops, promote WALGA’s Governance function, attend WALGA Zone meetings and networking. This role collaborates in developing webinars and providing content expertise to WALGA’s suite of Local Government Elected Member and Officer training modules (WALGA is a Registered Training Organisation).
**What will make you successful in this role?**
- Demonstrated understanding of the Local Government Act’s legislative and regulatory impact on the functions, operations and compliance responsibilities of Local Governments
- Demonstrated experience in researching and analysing legislation and regulation
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a broad range of people and the ability to influence stakeholders
- High standard of written communication skills to develop training resources, compile reports, correspondence and resources suitable for different target audiences
- Good time management, prioritisation and organisational skills
- High degree of problem-solving ability

WALGA has approximately 100 staff with the majority located in our West Leederville office and organised into key portfolios: Advocacy, Policy, Member Services, Infrastructure and Executive and Corporate Services.
