Join our Group Security Department as a Security Operations Specialist. This team is dedicated to advancing and executing both new and ongoing aviation and corporate security measures across our organisation. Your role will be crucial in maintaining top-tier regulatory compliance, security standards, and fostering a strong security culture. This full-time position is based at Virgin’s head office in Brisbane.

**What you’ll be doing**:
**Security Regulations & Compliance**:

- Collaborate with Government and airport counterparts on emerging aviation security requirements
- Work across Virgin Australia departments to ensure compliance with security policies and procedures
- Ensure that all internal manuals and procedures accurately reflect security requirements

**Oversight & Investigation**:

- Maintain a high standard of security operations through ongoing compliance programs
- Investigate serious security-related incidents and collaborate with Australian and international governments to address audit findings and implement corrective actions

**Procedures & Training Material**:

- Review and oversee security policies and procedures, ensuring timely updates and communication
- Provide technical expertise and awareness sessions to operational teams as needed

**Training & Participation**:

- Complete mandatory training including Safety, Security, Resilience, and Health and Wellbeing
- Engage in Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Security Management Systems (SeMS) by identifying and reporting operational hazards
- Adhere to emergency procedures relevant to your role and location
- Actively participate in Safety Shares, Better Me initiatives, and the Group’s emergency response program.
- Contribute to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) consultations and challenge unsafe behaviours.
- Follow lawful directions from security personnel and law enforcement officers
- Engage in the Group’s Resilience program and ensure compliance with Virgin Australia's Risk Management Framework (RMF)

**Accountability & Resolution**:

- Manage and resolve serious security incidents promptly, ensuring timely resolution
- Support and direct the Corporate Emergency Response Plan (CERP) during security-related emergencies

**You’ll be great in this role if you**:

- Must hold or be eligible to obtain a national security clearance at the level of ‘Negative Vetting 1’ - Must hold or be eligible for an Australian Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
- A formal qualification Aviation Security, Security Risk Management or Investigations
- A minimum of at least 3 years of relevant aviation industry or corporate security experience. - Working across multiple agencies with the ability to influence outcomes.
- Demonstrated capability in and understanding of conducting security risk assessments, audit & compliance activities, and internal investigations
- Strong skills in documenting operational procedures
- Ability to communicate with broad and diverse internal and external stakeholders, including governing regulatory agencies Requirement Essential Desirable Knowledge
- A high level of understanding of complex aviation processes/systems and associated legislation - Operational knowledge of all of the following areas;
