About us
The Department of Justice and Community Safety is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system.
What does Transformation, Learning and Capability do?
The Youth Justice Learning and Capability Team provides training services and learning and capability consultancy to Youth Justice. The team sits within the Learning & Capability function of People, Safety, Culture and Communication.
What does the Assistant Manager, Learning and Capability do?
As the Assistant Manager, you will plan, deliver, evaluate, record and report on professional development for youth justice staff, including, continued professional development, leadership development training, DJCS generic training and the Certificate IV in Youth Justice qualification.
You will also lead and supervise a team of learning and capability professionals, focusing on the effective delivery of the full suite of youth justice capability programs, the quality review of learning content ensuring it is current and meets the standards and expectations of the youth justice leadership group and community.
You will be based at head office in Melbourne though regular regional travel to the Youth Justice custodial and community locations is required.
What skills should an Assistant Manager, Learning and Capability have?
- Experience in the development and delivery of leadership, management, and interpersonal skills training to operational staff.
- Facilitation and training skills leading large groups to gain new skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of training and assessment processes, including the conduct of training needs analyses, workplace learning methodologies and instructional design.
- A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- A full and current driver's license.
A Certificate IV in Youth Justice and/or a leadership qualification is also desirable.
You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
