**Who are we looking for?**
We are seeking a Supervising Scientific/Technical Officer (Core Pathologies) to join Faculty Operations, Faculty of Health.

The Supervising Scientific/Technical Officer manages a small, agile team to deliver activities which relate to practical components of undergraduate teaching in Medical Laboratory Science disciplines including, but not limited to, clinical immunology, transfusion, haematology, histopathology and cytology. The Supervising Scientific/Technical Officer is responsible for coordinating the provision of specialist technical support operations across the Faculty and for reviewing processes to support continuous improvement. They will accomplish this by providing specialist advice to senior managers and academic leaders, coordinating resources, managing staff, and by adopting a calm and consultative approach to achieving objectives and solving problems.

Technical services is a highly professional team providing specialist technical expertise to support teaching and research across all schools within the Faculty. The team are responsible for the effective, safe and sustainable operation of a range of teaching and research facilities and specialist equipment across both campuses..

**What you need to succeed**
- Completion of a degree or a higher degree with at least four years’ subsequent relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training involving laboratory operations in medical laboratory science or related biomedical sciences.
- Demonstrated high level communication skills (including written and verbal) and flexibility to work across projects and to collaborate and develop effective relationships with multiple programs and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to nurture and lead a high-performing, collaborative team committed to continuous improvement and which actively works to understand and meet stakeholder requirements.
- Demonstrated problem identification and resolution skills, including ability to implement desired outcomes to timely completion in a complex environment with competing demands.
- Demonstrated ability to support delivery of projects within agreed timeframes and resource constraints (including assistance with scoping, planning, delivery and post-implementation review).
- Demonstrated knowledge of health, safety and environment principles and commitment to compliance and safety at both strategic and operational levels.
