**Great opportunity with this exciting leadership position in the University Library. You will lead a team of collection experts to manage, curate and promote the unique and diverse collections of the University.**
The Manager, Special Collections and Archives is responsible for coordinating the effective operational management of special collections within the University Library and leading professional staff and volunteers responsible for collection management activities.
This role is also responsible for promoting the discovery and use of special collections as an integral part of the University Library’s teaching, learning and research resources and programs.
**To be successful you will need**:
Proven ability to lead teams, contribute to effective change management and positively influence and model exemplary leadership to develop a high performing culture.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with staff, management and collection stakeholdersDemonstrated high level organisational and problem-solving skills, self-motivation and project management, with an ability to manage complex workflows and concurrent projects.
- Experience in managing, preserving and providing access to archives, manuscripts, rare books or other special collections based on current theory and best practice including knowledge of archival principles and digital recordkeeping.
- Proven ability to respond to emerging and competing priorities and the aptitude to understand current trends and issues in relation to collection management, such as risk and rights management issues as they impact on collections, including copyright, cultural sensitivity, privacy, confidentiality and ownership.
Desirable:
- Experience in an academic institution would be beneficial but is not essential.
