Our work encompasses every part of our State; from our cities to our regions, connecting and strengthening community. We value diversity and inclusion and foster an environment of collaboration, flexibility, and support for our people.
**The Opportunity**
We are seeking dedicated and passionate Principal Transport Planners to join our Transport Project Planning team within the Transport Strategy and Planning Division.
In this senior role, you will report to the Planning Lead and play a pivotal role in shaping South Australia’s transport future. You will be responsible not only for leading the development of integrated, multi'modal transport solutions that drive economic and community benefits, but also for providing strategic oversight, mentoring junior staff, and guiding complex transport project development initiatives.
The role requires a strong background in successfully managing complex transport planning projects across the project development lifecycle. You will have extensive experience in working with the complexity and uncertainty of transport project planning, with demonstrated capability in guiding projects through challenging design development and decision-making processes to balance diverse and often competing imperatives where there is rarely a single obvious optimal solution. In addition, you will be a key mentor and leader, guiding and developing junior staff and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Your work will leave a lasting impact, supporting a South Australia that is smart, sustainable and inclusive.
**About You**
Are you a skilled Transport Planner with expertise in multi-modal transport planning, land use integration, and South Australian policy frameworks? Do you have strong analytical abilities and communication skills, with experience in assessing transport systems and contributing to the development of transport infrastructure design solutions?
This role requires experience in project development, and a strong understanding of relevant design standards, guidelines and policies which govern transport planning process. Proficiency in transport modelling tools (e.g. Aimsun, SIDRA), GIS, data analysis and data visualisation is desirable.
Stakeholder engagement and communication skills are essential, along with a solid appreciation of broader environmental, social, and economic factors which influence the transport project development process. You need to be a problem solver and innovator, capable of addressing transport challenges with practical, forward thinking solutions while staying updated on industry trends.
