**As Head of Sustainability**, you will be responsible for the development and execution of the sustainability agenda across the business, while creating a shopping experience that doesn’t cost the earth. The foundation of this role is based on the principles within the Harris Farm Sustainability Strategic Plan. You will be responsible for executing to that plan and assessing new opportunities presented to Harris Farm Markets against our 3 pillars of Sustainability
- Good for our Family, Good for our Earth: Good for our Business. We strive to operate for the Greater Goodness, and you will play a major role in monitoring, measuring, and improving the “Goodness” that we share.
**Key Result areas**
- Manage, maintain, and execute to the Harris Farm Sustainability Strategic Plan (The Plan).
- Develop and execute initiatives in accordance with the Plan and as approved by Harris Farm Executives.
- Engage and enable Harris Farm Market team members to support your delivery of initiatives in accordance with the Plan
- Lead, manage and develop systems and process to ensure on going continual success to the plan.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Create and drive the initiatives that bring the plan to life for our business, our team and our customers.
- Continue to uphold the appropriate policies we have in place and help our teams understand and embed these positions and practises in the business.
- Drive Harris Farm to deliver Goodness for all stakeholders. This will include owning and managing our efforts to achieve B Corp certification.
- Advise the executive and board on the costs involved in achieving success in achieving the above plans, optimise for highest outcomes and manage the budget in execution.
- Monitor and keep track of our environmental performance and suggest improvements to - Carbon management, Greenhouse Gases emitted, Energy and Water Used, Waste generated, and Packaging used.
- Provide regular reports on program progress and KPIs to the HFM Executive and Board
- Investigate, identify improvements, and prioritise actions to improve our overall environmental performance.
- Assess social and environmental responsibility in vendor supply chains against business standards.
- Ensure compliance is met with the Modern Slavery Act.
- Help establish HFM Environmental KPIs/Targets.
- Manage claims and functions for sustainability criteria to ensure alignment with business standards and expectations.
- Ensure packaging purchases and usage follow HFM Sustainable Packaging Policy.
- Stay on top of key environmental trends and report back to HFM Executive and Board.
- Stay on top of social and environmental news and targets at the local to federal level. (e.g. APCO, EPA, National Waste Policy, Modern Slavery Act).
- Uphold the Harris Farm brand and values in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders
**Skills Required**:
- Aligned with HFM values.
- Be able to think strategically but also be very focused on execution and delivery
- Willingness to work on the “shop floor” to get to understand the business and travel to all our sites regularly (full drivers licence needed and access to a vehicle)
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Be a self stater and achievement orientated.
- Proven team player
- Tertiary qualification in sustainability or similar field
- 5 years’ experience in sustainability management
- Demonstrated experience in reporting and data analysis
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
- Demonstrated experience engaging and influencing stakeholders
- Project management skills.
