You will interact daily with your assigned customers, project managers, other consultants, customer success teams and the sales and accounts teams, and will be able to make a real impact in their success as a business and on our success as a business. **Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?**

During the first year, you will onboard into the Consultant role and work with your assigned customers.
- The first thing that you will achieve is completing a well-organized up to six-week onboarding plan that will be prepared for you
- You will continue developing & maintaining deep technical knowledge & skills for a given VMware technology area in addition to core virtualisation capabilities.
- Three months after joining you will have engaged with customers and be working on a long-term engagement or have already completed shorter-term projects together with other consultants in the team. You will be able to articulate achievements in the projects and where there are opportunities for customers to gain even further from VMware’s capabilities
- You will partner with your customers to accelerate their desired outcomes through best practice designs and deployments that enable rapid adoption of VMware technologies
- You will educate your customers on solutions deployed for them so they can move into day-2 operations seemlessly
- Between six to eleven months from your joining date, you will begin be able to lead design workshops and technical discussions with customers, relying less and less on support of other consultants and more and more on your developing skills and experience.
- You will emerge in technical leadership, coordination, and assist in architectural guidance.
- You will serve as an advocate for your customer(s) and VMware,
- If not already certified, you will aim to achieve your VCP (VMware Certified Professional) to help you achieve your goals and objectives.

**The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?**

As part of the Professional Services Consulting team, you will be working on either a long-term engagements or multiple short-term engagements designed to bring about rapid, but controlled change and strategic improvement for. The activities performed are all aligned with delivering best-practice designs and deployments, to help our customers achieve their desired outcomes while using VMware technology.

By helping our customers, we will also help drive the adoption and consumption of the VMware technologies the customer has purchased.

The number of customers will vary depending on your preferred area of specialization, however the Federal team works across the whole of the Federal Government portfolio, from defence to intelligence, law enforcement, social services, health, science, industry, infrastructure, finance, foreign affairs, home affairs and parliamentary departments. You will also work with universities, finance institutes, telcos and a range of public and private sector firms across Australia and New Zealand. You will be collaborating with the broader VMware account team and specialists and you will:

- Gather business and functional requirements and translate these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions with a flexible and adaptable architecture.
- Assist in the design, and then implement large-scale, high-volume, high-performance software defined datacentres and automation capabilities.
- Contribute towards tooling & standards to improve the productivity and quality of our solutions.
- Automate infrastructure deployment using scripting languages and markup.
- Develop using PowerShell, bash or JavaScript.
- Define datacenter parameters in Spreadsheets, YAML/XAML and JSON and deploy solutions using software driven solutions.
- Understand and influence best practices for observability & devsecops.
