About the Role

The Facility Manager oversees and supports the safe and effective operations of the Berengarra facility, and the delivery and coordination of a person-centred model of care at the site. This position is responsible for Berengarra’s compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards and St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne’s policies and procedures. The role reports to the Operations Manager, Residential Aged Care Services.

The Facility Manager supports the Director of Nursing Residential Services in ensuring the provision of professional leadership and accountability for nursing practice, quality and safety standards and nursing workforce planning at a local level, all within the context of the St Vincent’s strategic plan.
- Promote a culture that supports resident choice and preference as key drivers of care; where staff, residents and their families feel welcome, valued and safe to provide feedback.
- Provide a leadership and mentoring role to the three Nurse Unit Managers and teams within the facility.
- In partnership with the Operations Manager, Quality Coordinator and NUMs lead and manage the Aged Care Accreditation Assessments, Support Contacts and Aged Care Complaints Commissioner processes.
- Work with the Business Manager to ensure admission and discharge processes, including residents’ and families' experience, is efficient and sensitive to the needs of the individual/s.
- Facilitate and maintain productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders such as the Aged Psychiatry Assessment & Treatment Team, Residential Support Program and Geriatric Community Consult Service.
- As the Deputy Director of Nursing, provide advice and counsel to senior leaders regarding professional nursing issues inclusive of legislative, regulatory and industrial considerations and impacts in relation to nursing services and practice.
- As the Deputy Director of Nursing and in conjunction with Director of Nursing actively contribute to Nursing professional governance and strategy across SVHM, representing Residential Aged Care in a nursing practice context.

The classification for this position will be ZE6 with an an over-award applied. The total remuneration for this role is $128 - $130k per annum, pro rata, depending on the successful applicant's experience’

This role is available at either part time (0.8 FTE) or full time, depending on the successful applicant's preference.

Your Contribution
- Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Post-graduate qualifications in management, nursing or other appropriate field (desirable at a Masters level).
- Comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, of the principles and practice of aged care, and a sound working knowledge of the Commonwealth Aged Care Quality Standards and accreditation process.
- Previous experience in a senior management position within a residential aged care service.
- Highly developed interpersonal, leadership and communication skills and extensive experience working with nursing teams, multi-disciplinary health professionals and senior managers.
- Commitment to flexible service delivery, innovation in practice and resident centred care.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willing to obtain

About St Vincent’s Residential Care

St Vincent Hospital Melbourne provides residential aged care services at a number of facilities including Berengarra.

Berengarra is SVHM’s newest 90 bed aged residential facility, commissioned in 2021 and comprising two x 30 bed general aged care units and one aged person’s mental health unit. These include the recently relocated service providers, Cambridge House and Riverside House. Berengarra is co-located with St George’s Health Service (SGHS) at 283 Cotham Rd, Kew.
