Principal Legal Adviser | VPS 6 | 12 month fixed term | Children & Youth Protection
**Your new company**
You will join an independent statutory body that promotes improvement in policies and practices affecting the safety and wellbeing of Victorian children and the youth, with a main focus on the vulnerable.

**Your new role**
Working in a small team and reporting to a knowledgeable and experienced General Counsel you will assist the regulatory function in providing legal advice and services to the body to ensure the safety and wellbeing children and youth in the State. You will:

- Provide sound advice and services to a wide range of internal Seniors and external stakeholders on regulatory matters including, but not limited to, investigations, information sharing, compliance and enforcement, litigation.
- Prepare legal documentation, briefs, submissions, and other documentation as required
- Manage a small high-performing team
- Pursue legal proceedings related to regulatory matters
- Represent the Statutory Body on key government and non-government committees and bodies established to support the regulatory functions
- Provide and further understanding of Commonwealth and State law, legislative and policy reform directions in order to provide accurate and informed legal advice and services.

**What you'll need to succeed**
To be successful in this role you must reside in Australia and have;
- A tertiary qualification in Law & current Australian Practicing certificate
- Experience in an area related to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people
- A minimum of 6 years' experience in administrative law & regulatory areas.
- An adaptable and resilient nature
- Highly impressive written, negotiation and general communication skills.
- Proven experience managing a high performing team.
