
Reception and Switchboard Officer

Your role at St John of God Midland Hospital
You will be responsible for providing a welcoming, efficient and high professional standard of customer service to all customers and caregivers via reception and switchboard.
The Position- Respond in a fast efficient manner to all emergency calls via switchboard and implement required procedures.- Where required, monitor alarm panels and security surveillance and implement required escalation procedures as applicable.- Initiate emergency code calls as per Hospital policy and procedures.- Provide an efficient paging service to all pager holders using internal or external pagers.- Ensure all callers are connected to the correct extensions with minimum delay in a pleasant and courteous manner.- Make out-going calls as required for caregivers and patients as required.- Escalate and report all information system and switchboard faults in accordance with Hospital and Group IS policies.- Deal with all inquiries at the hospital reception areas in a welcoming, calm and professional manner, demonstrating excellent customer service and values in line with our service ethos.- Deal with and escalate emergency situations according to hospital policy and procedures- Print inpatient lists as required.- Advise relevant Manager/Supervisor of telephone number and other information changes or updates, and communicates critical information to relevant stakeholders as required and in accordance with Hospital policy.- Ensure all patient information is correct and current relating to discharges, transfers and admissions. If information not correct, advise Ward, Admissions or Health Information to ensure update is facilitated.- Works cohesively with Medical Administration to update and communicate changes regarding emergency and on-call rosters as well as other relevant changes re: medical personnel and contact methods.- Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge base via memos, reports, noticeboard and Communications book and other information sources.
