**The Opportunity**
The Procurement Services directorate provides functional leadership and specialist procurement and commercial advice for ‘Construction’ related Infrastructure Project Procurement and Contracts activities across the Department.

The Construction Commercial Advisory (Pre-contract) section functions include providing commercial advice on the Department’s major construction projects affecting South Australia, providing specialist review and advice on standard contract terms, and negotiations on commercial departures.

The role is required to liaise with the Crown Solicitors Office for the provision of all legal advice in relation to the pre-contract matters, review and form formal, legally enforceable, and professional contracts for projects undertaken by the Directorate.

The role is also responsible for assisting strategic procurements from a commercial perspective, creating, updating and implementing contract templates, including engaging with key stakeholders to continually improve our contracts and implementing and updating policies, procedures, frameworks and contract templates relating to Construction Commercial Advisory activities.

Commercial Officers within the section are required to undertake a wide range of activities which relate to the above functions while supporting the commercial advisors and senior commercial advisors. **About You**

The ability to successfully manage and deliver departmental programs, collaborate across teams on complex issues, and provide expert advice to mitigate risks is required. Your proactive approach will include embracing change, accepting responsibility, and implementing complex solutions, underpinned by advanced analytical and research skills to inform critical decisions and deliver high-quality reports.

**Qualifications/Experience**
Tertiary qualifications in Law and/or in other relevant discipline and/or significant relevant experience are desirable.

**Special Conditions**
A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.

Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

**Tenure of Vacancy**
Temporary appointment up to 12 months. A conversion to an ongoing role will be considered after this period.

**Remuneration**
ASO5 - $85,790 to $95,413 pa + superannuation.
