About the business unit
Corrections Victoria (CV) is a business unit of the Department of Justice and Community Safety and is responsible for the management of prisons and community correctional services in Victoria. Corrections Victoria operates Victoria's adult corrections system, including prisons and Community Correctional Services (CCS). It ensures prisoners are safely and securely contained and aims to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
Tarrengower is a minimum-security prison accommodating up to 72 female offenders and is situated 2 kms from Maldon in Central Victoria. Tarrengower's emphasis is on release preparation and community reintegration through the provision of programs within a rehabilitative environment. Tarrengower emphasises the principles of a healthy prison where children can be accommodated with their mothers ensuring the family unit is maintained and developed. Tarrengower strongly recognises cultural diversity, respecting individual religious, spiritual, and cultural beliefs.
The role of the Offender Services Team is to prepare prisoners for release and to enhance post release opportunities through integrated on the job training, targeted educational opportunities and personal development programs and activities.
About the role
Reporting to the Offender Services Supervisor, the Vocational Programs Facilitator will provide administrative and organisational support to Offender Services by identifying program and vocational delivery requirements, and scheduling programs in consultation with internal and external staff, stakeholders and prisoners. The Vocational Programs Facilitator will also be responsible for managing a range of projects and identifying new initiatives.

**Some of your duties will include**:

- Providing support to people in prison undertaking distance education in alignment with the Department's Distance Education Framework.
- Facilitating external permit activity for women nearing release to enhance vocational outcomes.
- Assisting in the development, implementation and evaluation of prisoner programs suitable for diverse and complex prisoner groups, including mothers who have their children residing with them in prison.
- Providing appropriate support, supervision, guidance and direction to prisoner groups.
- Managing, directing and completing program projects.

- A demonstrated understanding of the transitional issues facing women in custody when preparing to return to the community.
- A demonstrated aptitude for engaging individuals with complex and diverse needs.
- The understanding of or a strong ability to gain an understanding of tertiary education institutions.
