The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Programs Coordinator to provide a critical role at Tarrengower Prison.

**About the business unit**

Tarrengower is a minimum security prison accommodating up to 72 female offenders and is situated 2 kms from Maldon in Central Victoria. Tarrengower's emphasis is on release preparation and community reintegration through the provisions of programs within a rehabilitative environment. Tarrengower emphasises the principles of a healthy prison where children can be accommodated with their mothers ensuring the family unit is maintained and developed. Tarrengower strongly recognises cultural diversity, respecting individual religious, spiritual and cultural beliefs

**About the role**

The Programs Coordinator will be a suitably experienced individual with training and experience in the coordination of individual and group programs and interventions. The role will involve the sourcing and coordinating of services and psycho-educational skills-based programs depending on the needs of the women coming into Tarrengower Prison. All programs delivered aim to reduce the risk of re-offending by assisting offenders to develop key skills to support their reintegration into the community. The Programs Coordinator will also have a role in case consultation, behavioural management, and resolving issues concerned with program participation/engagement and attendance, in consultation with the Case Management Review Committee at the location and other key stakeholders as required.

Some of your duties will include:

- Coordinate psycho-educational skills based programs.
- Coordinate and oversee the Corrections Victoria Reintegration Pathway in accordance with Corrections Victoria Service Delivery Outcomes.
- Responsible for the coordination of internal and external programs delivered at the location.
- Liaise with internal and external program providers to ensure appropriate scheduling, delivery and monitoring of programs and services.

The role involves direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Agreement.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Knowledge of and experience in dealing with the limitations imposed on offenders in a correctional environment.
- Demonstrated experience in both facilitating and coordinating prison based programs (highly desirable).

A relevant tertiary qualification in the human services, or welfare fields is desirable.
