We are looking for a Principal Policy Officer to join the Government Records and Innovation team in this exciting and rewarding role.

As the Principal Policy Officer you will be a key part of the Government Records and Innovation team that is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of government wide recordkeeping policies and advice and disposal authorisation for public records.

In this role you will be responsible for leading policy and research activities to develop whole-of-government (WOG) strategies, solutions and advice on contemporary and emerging issues associated with the management of government information in all formats.

**Your duties in this role will include**:

- developing, leading and maintaining strategic relationships and partnerships with stakeholders to develop strategic policies and innovative solutions to WOG records and information management challenges
- undertaking complex policy and research activities to develop and implement strategies, policies and solutions to improve recordkeeping maturity, including digital recordkeeping
- participating, coordinating and promoting engagement and collaboration activities to build and maintain relationships with government agencies, industry organisations, vendors and other archival authorities
- initiating, developing, maintaining and reviewing WOG advice taking a plain English, practical approach to improve records and information management across government
- preparing discussion papers, reports and briefing notes covering current and emerging issues associated with records and information management including public records
- reviewing WOG policy and strategic documents
- supervising and supporting officers within the Government Records and Innovation team.

Applications will remain current for a period of up to 12 months after the closing date of the vacancy and may be considered for other identical or similar vacancies which may be available.
