**The Role**
The Anzac Systems Program Office (SPO) Work Health, Safety and Environment Manager is responsible for providing through-life support to the Navy’s Anzac Class Fleet to deliver warship capability to meet the evolving needs of our nation. Reporting to the Director, the Work Health, Safety and Environment Manager will perform and achieve complex to very complex work health, safety and environment governance and assurance construction activities within an integrated workforce.

As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will manage and lead a small team to undertake specialist research and analysis, conduct reviews and exercise sound decision-making and judgement to provide expert policy advice. You will have and be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of compliance with legislative frameworks, Government decision-making and the development of organisational strategic policy requirements.

**About our Team**
The Anzac System Project Office operates within the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group, as a part of the Maritime Systems Division, within the Major Surface Ships Branch. The main office location for the Anzac SPO is located in Rockingham, Western Australia, with additional satellite support located in Sydney, New South Wales, and Henderson, Western Australia to execute sustainment activities.

The Work Health, Safety and Environment Manager, will be required to support, both intra and interstate travel on a need's basis, to deliver through-life support of the Anzac Class.

As the Work Health, Safety and Environment Manager, you will be required to demonstrate a range of key competencies.

These include:

- **Accountable**:You will be accountable to ensure you have in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements. You will exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a leadership role, providing governance and assurance of the In-Service Support Contractor construction activities. You will be accountable for organising your workflow, leading a team, managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, and developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes.
- **Research, Analysis and WHS Risk Management**: You will be adept in researching and analysing information, probing for clarity, producing solutions, making judgements and have the ability to think systematically. This includes the ability to research and analyse activities to identify and address work health and safety risks to capability and recommend courses of action.
- **Communication and relationship management**: You will be an excellent communicator, with the ability to leverage interpersonal skills to build and sustain productive relationships (internal and external) with team members and actively participate in team-work and group activities involving construction work, health and safety. You will be required to actively manage key stakeholder relationships and will be required to identify relevant stakeholders’ expectations and concerns to develop and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes within the WHS governance and assurance space.
- **Commitment to compliance**: As a WHSE Manager, you will be someone who can demonstrate a commitment to a range of compliance requirements and show commitment to your organisation. You will interpret and provide expert advice within the WHS governance and assurance function and exercise independence in developing, implementing and reviewing work, health, safety and environmental plans and processes.
