**POSITION PURPOSE**

IDP has completed the first phase of its digital transformation which has directly contributed to the massive acceleration in the world’s leading Educational-Tech business helping students fulfil their lifelong learning opportunities at the world’s top universities.

Our transformation journey is not yet complete, and we have an exciting range of programs of work to further accelerate the pace of our operations.

A challenging opportunity with us as **Head of Cyber Security Defense** to support IDP’s resilience through defensive Cyber Security, including threat management, detection and response, and investigative capabilities across all on-premise and cloud environments_._

This is a **full-time permanent opportunity** based out of **Melbourne**, reporting to the Director, Cyber Security and Technology Risk.

**Responsibilities include**:
**Planning**
- Initial and on-going security strategies related to all areas of defensive security including threat intelligence, detection and response and investigation in relation to IDP’s key risks.
- Security Operations Centre locations, staffing and on-going management.

**Execution**
- Implementation of and on-going refinement of functions related to defensive security.
- Delivery against strategic goals whilst being able to work on tactical activities as the capabilities mature.
- Manage multiple areas across the complex and geographic distribution of the business.

**Reporting and assurance**
- Creation of frameworks and measures to ensure effectiveness of controls over time that can be reported through qualitative and quantitative measurements.
- Supporting the Director - Cybersecurity & Technology Risk in overall reporting of risk and incident management in relation to Cyber Defense.

**Team Management**
- Create and foster a high performing team environment including recruiting both local and remote personnel.
- Management of key partners related to Defensive Security.

**About you**

As our Head of Cyber Security Defense, you'll be a critical member of a high performing team, ready to tackle complexity.

Specifically, we are looking for a talented individual who has;
- Worked with and lead a team of security analysts.
- Expertise to define and deliver security strategy to continually improve IDP’s threat detection and incident response capabilities.
- Overseen proactive detection and response measures including detection engineering, threat hunting, and cyber drills.
- Served as an escalation point for cybersecurity incident investigations.
- Capable of building relationships throughout IDP to help provide a strong cybersecurity incident detection and response capability.
- Participated in team lead efforts including planning, budgeting, reporting, retrospectives, and wider team initiatives.
- Worked amidst global teams.
