Sport and Recreation supports and encourages participation and success in sport and active recreation through delivery of: grant funding for sport and active recreation organisations and clubs, infrastructure and participation programs, the operation of precincts and venues and through engaging and partnering with the active industry across Queensland. Through this investment we want to improve the health and wellbeing of all Queenslanders by assisting them to be more active.Precincts and Venues oversee the operations, business improvement, maintenance/capital works, leasing and service delivery of Sport and Recreation Precincts and Venues that deliver healthy and active opportunities to Queenslanders such as outdoor recreation and sport programs, functions and events at regionally significant venues across Queensland. The Venues and Precincts include stadiums, accommodation and catered facilities, function rooms, sporting fields and leisure centres, in addition four of the Venues offer serviced office space and support for over 40 industry organisations.The owned and operated Venues and Precincts are located in Townsville, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, and Brisbane city with over 50 employees and 80 contract staff across a range of specialised roles and skills, with the two major Venues in the portfolio being the Gold and Sunshine Coast Recreation Centres.The Sunshine Coast encompasses beach resorts, surf spots and rural hinterland in southern Queensland, Australia. It stretches from the coastal city of Caloundra, near Brisbane, north to the Cooloola section of the Great Sandy National Park, home to multicoloured sand dunes, mangrove forests, and shallow lakes. Upscale Noosa Heads has boutique shops, waterways, and walking trails through Noosa National Park.
