The Risk Analyst will be instrumental in the management and analysis of risks associated with wholesale energy markets.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- **Risk Assessment and Analysis**: Conducting comprehensive evaluations of market risks related to energy trading, encompassing market price volatility, credit risk, operational risk, and liquidity risk.
- **Develop Risk Models**:Crafting and maintaining sophisticated quantitative risk models to assess potential exposures and the efficacy of risk mitigation strategies.
- **Market Intelligence**: Staying informed about prevailing global energy market trends and regulatory dynamics to provide astute analysis and recommendations.
- **Portfolio Optimization**: Collaborating closely with traders, analysts, and stakeholders to optimize the risk profile of the energy portfolio while ensuring compliance with established risk management policies.
- **Reporting and Communication**: Preparing detailed risk reports and engaging presentations for senior management, spotlighting key risk metrics, and proposing effective risk management strategies.
- **Scenario Analysis**: Conducting scenario analyses to simulate adverse market conditions, evaluating their impact on the portfolio.
- **Technology and System Enhancement**:Collaborating with the technology team to improve risk management tools and systems, ensuring precision and efficiency in risk measurement and reporting.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
- Demonstrated experience (4 years) as a Risk Analyst within wholesale energy markets or a similar domain.
- Profound comprehension of energy market products, trading strategies, and risk management principles.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB for data analysis and risk modeling.
- Knowledge of financial modeling, statistical analysis, and probability theory.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, enabling effective communication of complex risk concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- A highly analytical mindset with an acute attention to detail, coupled with critical and creative thinking abilities.
