About the role
This is an incredible opportunity for a proven Major Gift Fundraiser looking to step in to a strategic leadership role. Working with the Executive and the board, you will take the lead on building the Major Gifts programme while also managing a small team to continue the growth across other Fundraising areas such as Individual Giving (campaigns and appeals).
There is huge potential for this Major Gifts programme, and we are looking for someone who is excited by the opportunity to grow the portfolio from its early stages in to a flourishing programme. You will have exceptional networking and relationship development skills and have a proven background in driving growth across this area.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for driving growth across the Philanthropy and Fundraising programme across Major Gifts, Mid Value, Trusts, Corporate and Individual Giving
- Manage, develop, and grow the small Fundraising team
- Personal focus on building and developing a Major Gifts programme with a focus on high level gifts
- Develop donor acquisition strategies and be accountable for developing a new Major Gifts pipeline
- Set prospect research strategies and drive end to end relationships with donors from prospect, proposal, cultivation through to ask
- Create compelling cases for support and ensure that effective stewardship and donor journey plans are in place
- Grow and develop long term and long-lasting relationships with donors
- Work closely with the Board and the Philanthropy committee members to build and engage high level prospects, to catalyse philanthropic investment
- Build excellent internal stakeholder relationships with individuals who will support in the engagement of donors
- Engage with donors in face-to-face meetings and donor events
- Responsibility for budgeting, reporting, and forecasting across Fundraising
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience in successfully developing and managing a Major Donor program
- Ability to manage donors across the donor journey from prospect through to ask with a drive and passion to build pipelines and new connections
- Donor acquisition experience and a passion for developing new donor relationships
- Exceptional relationship management skills
- Demonstrated success in delivering financial results and personally securing significant gifts
- Proven ability to effectively manage complex projects with a wide variety of stakeholders to achieve strategic goals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the proven experience preparing a range of high-level communications, including briefings, proposals, verbal and written presentations
- Strong data and CRM skills and the ability to use data for reporting and development of a program
- Ability to manage, nurture and grow a small Fundraising team across Philanthropy and Fundraising
- A passionate Fundraiser with strong Major Donor acquisition experience and a true drive to grow programs
- Reporting and budget management experience
- Passionate, engagement and dynamic relationships builder who can inspire both staff members and donors
