Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Assistant Director Safety and Wellbeing on a contract for 3 months.
**Position Overview**
**POSITION OVERVIEW**
The Assistant Director Safety and Wellbeing is responsible for the development and implementation of targeted and systematic health and safety initiatives and proactive programs that promote health and wellbeing on behalf of the directorate in line with a business partner model with key operational areas.
Reporting to the Director Safety and Wellbeing Branch, the Assistant Director Safety and Wellbeing will work with the senior management and executive team to embed a safety culture and clear accountabilities for management and staff.
- Lead the development of plans to be included in annual business planning, that include policies and procedures in relation to risk and hazard management and business continuity to ensure continued operational service availability.
- Facilitate the reporting and monitoring of safety breaches, hazards and accidents and near miss incidents involving department's activities with a focus on the assigned Division/Branch. Monitor ongoing WHS conformance and advise of outcomes.
- Investigate, analyse and report incident trends and work cooperatively with staff to put action plans in place to deliver measurable improvements. Report on the implementation of amended safety practices to address identified hazards or hazardous work practices.
- Co-ordinate, and conduct regular worksite inspections to assist Transport Canberra and Business Services in their duty under the WHS Act to identify, correct and prevent hazards at worksites. Lead activities to co-ordinate, assist and advise Health and Safety Representatives, in accordance with requirements of the WHS Act. Liaise regularly with HSRs on WHS issues.
