We’ve come a long way from our humble beginnings 40+ years ago. However, for 4 decades, our vision has been the same — to save the lives of all children with cancer and improve their long-term health through research. It’s not if. It’s when.
To accomplish our vision, we’re seeking someone who lives our values: owning and delivering meaningful work, collaborating to drive impact, challenging the status quo to create a better future, and balancing logic with empathy. Let’s achieve more, together.
We are currently seeking a Research Coordinator to provide high-level support to the Brain Tumour Research Group. The role will primarily support the Group Leader’s research activities and those of his research team, thereby helping to achieve the strategic and operational objectives of the Institute. This role requires a person who can work easily in a research and administrative environment, who has demonstrated initiative, and is a strong team player with a flexible approach. We are open to offering flexible hours to the right person for this role.
**As our Research Coordinator your purpose will be to**:
- Record minutes of research meetings involving the Group Leader, and follow-up on action items with responsible individuals
- Monitor animal, human and OGTR ethical approvals expiry dates and assisting in drafting new proposals for submission
- Assist with recruitment of new research personnel
- Collate presentations of data both from individual and group meetings and any associated materials, e.g. relevant publications
- Prepare for upcoming research meetings
- Prepare initial drafts of documents supporting grant proposals and proof-reading versions of grant submissions or other research outputs, including publications
- Assist with completion of online grant submissions
- Assist with budget management.
- Identify and support novel grant funding opportunities
- Fulfil other administrative functions that may be required from time to time
**To succeed you will have**
- Tertiary education, preferably a PhD, with experience in biomedical research
- Minimum of 2 years post-doctoral or equivalent experience in a biomedical field
- Demonstrated commitment to OGTR and other regulatory requirements
- Advanced computer skills
- A high degree of professionalism and respect for others
- A friendly outgoing personality who can work with people openly across all levels of an organisation
- A working knowledge of, or experience with, translational laboratory research, involving cellular and molecular biology and small animal experiments
**We will support you to be your best with benefits that include but are not limited to**:
- Focus on employee wellbeing, including up to 5 gifted wellbeing days off (paid) per year
- Access to Fitness Passport, with access to an extensive choice of fitness facilities across Sydney at discounted rates
- Corporate discounts and discounts on education through UNSW
