Maridulu Budyari Gumal-Sydney Partnership for Health, Education, Research and Enterprise (SPHERE) is one of Australia’s accredited Research Translation Centres, bringing into partnership the research, innovation, and education ‘engine rooms’ in leading universities, health services and medical research institutes with the ‘front-line’ of healthcare delivery in our local health districts and health networks in the East, South-East, and South-West Sydney. Research translation centres like SPHERE are focussed on obtaining evidence where it is lacking and implementing evidence into practice when and where required.
Hosted by UNSW in partnership with 14 other organisations and led by the Executive Director, SPHERE aims to accelerate clinical research and innovation and rapidly translate new knowledge to improve health outcomes and deliver better value care for patients, families, and the broader community. SPHERE emphasises equitable access for our priority populations and consumer-based problems our communities have informed us they value and prioritise.
The Research Outcomes Coordinator will lead the implementation and evolution of an organisation-wide impact framework that will measure and evaluate the outcomes detailed in the SPHERE Strategic Plan.
The Research Outcomes Coordinator will play a critical role in embedding and strengthening the framework as our impact measurement develops and iterates as SPHERE continues to evolve and will lead how SPHERE articulates impact to different audiences.
Working closely with the Executive Director and reporting to the Operations Manager, SPHERE this role will have 3 Research Support Officers directly reporting to it.
**Responsibilities**:
- Coordination and management of the SPHERE, Research Translation Committee.
- Provide leadership and advice to the Research Support Officers at SPHERE in order to support them to progress development and delivery of research initiatives from the SPHERE Alliance.
- Build, develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and provide an effective link for the SPHERE Alliance partners and collaborators.
- Collaborate broadly across the SPHERE Alliance working as a conduit for relevant information and opportunities both internally and externally, promoting the research, innovation and education opportunities and capabilities of the SPHERE Alliance.
- Responsible for oversight of SPHERE’s impact framework to drive the outcomes detailed in the SPHERE Strategic Plan including methods, processes and assessment.
- Oversee impact data management, analysis, reporting and presentation to diverse stakeholders, including the SPHERE Council and Annual Report development.
- Manage SPHERE-endorsed funding rounds, including MRFF bid support, Building Big Ideas - seed funding Health Services Grants and co-funding Partnership Support Grant Application processes from document preparation to reporting of successful applicants. Prepare high level written reports including high level status updates, reports, annual, accreditations and research grant reports and discussion papers to keep stakeholders informed and up to date.
**Skills and Experience**:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant funding development and oversight experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated experience and leadership in building organisational capabilities and fostering collaboration within a team and more broadly across an organisation.
- Drive the implementation of evidence with the ability to scale community priorities through advocacy, policy development, community engagement, coaching staff and researchers, and managing consultation and submission processes with deadlines.
- Ability to provide high level oversight, analysis, progress reports and early identification of issues across the SPHERE Alliance with prompt resolution to the Executive Management team.
- Demonstrated understanding and management of impact frameworks, measurement tools and articulating impact in order to drive and achieve organisational goals and objectives.
- Experience coordinating Research working groups including supporting meetings, follow up activities and investigation of the feasibility of ideas generated for discussion with Executive Management.
- Well-developed time management and organisational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
