Southern Cross Care QLD is looking for a proactive and self-directed
**Occupational Health & Safety Manager **based at our Support Centre in Upper Mt Gravatt
**.**

This position will provide strategic leadership and direction and operational support on the management and continuous development of the organisation’s health and safety strategies and systems by planning, developing and implementing strategic and practical health and safety programmes across the organisation in line with best practice and health and safety legislation.

This position will partner with the business by providing high level advice to the Senior Management Team through the Head of Human Resources as well as hands on support and coaching to local site safety and injury management Teams coordinating investigations of all workplace incidents, and proactive

management of WorkCover Claims in conjunction with rehabilitation Coordinators across all SCCQ sites.

**What you will need**:

- Relevant Tertiary degree essential, Health & Safety, or Human Resources, Nursing or Allied Health with relevant safety qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience in Safety and claims management
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft software and Safety Management Software Systems
- High level analytical skills being able to identify trends and proactively implement programs and preventative actions
- Demonstrated knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety Act and Worker’s Compensation and Rehabilitation Act
- Demonstrated skills and experience in workplace accident and incident investigations
- Ability to effectively liaise and communicate with all stakeholders and staffing levels
- Demonstrated oral and written communications skills, including policy and report writing and the ability to negotiate and conciliate
- Maintain an up to date status of COVID 19 and flu vaccinations
