**Position Information**:
Thornton Public School has an enrolment of 802 students, including 12% Australian Defence Force, 13% Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students and two support class catering for students with Emotional Disturbance and Autism. The school is located near Maitland the gateway to the Hunter Valley and services a rapidly growing area. TPS has equity funding targeted in the areas of socio-economic background and Aboriginal education.

Our vision reflects a whole-school commitment to providing a happy, secure learning environment where students, staff, and the local community work in partnership. TPS uses evidence-based practices, to drive school decision making and inform teaching and learning programs to maximise educational outcomes for all students.

Our school has a highly professional, cohesive, and dynamic staff with a mixture of youth and experience. Our staff provide high quality educational programs with an emphasis on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes and increasing student engagement. Teachers work collaboratively in stage teams in the areas of planning, programming, and professional development.

Through our whole school focus on Positive Behaviour for Learning we aim to promote a positive and engaging learning environment for our students.

Collaboration and teacher collective efficacy in analysing data and making informed teaching decisions is a key focus of our school. All 3-6 classes are BYOD and innovative future focused learning is a priority. Outstanding and successful, environmental education, sporting, cultural and creative arts programs are a key feature of Thornton Public School.

**Selection Criteria**:
Approval to teach Infants and Primary with ability to utilise assessment data to inform teaching and learning, differentiate teaching and learning programs, provide feedback to students and promote a culture of high expectations.

Highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to work flexibly as part of a collaborative team to build positive relationships with students, staff and families.

Exemplary classroom management and wellbeing practices with the ability to create and maintain safe, inclusive, and challenging learning environments utilising positive behaviour management strategies.

Demonstrated excellence in integrating information communication technology into classroom practice.

Demonstrated ability and willingness to implement school activities including Creative Arts, Sports, Public speaking and debating, Choir and extra-curricular activities to strengthen school culture, student wellbeing, and sense of community.
