Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS5 Media Adviser on a non-Ongoing contract for 12 months.

**Position Overview**

Duties and responsibilities will include:

- Assistance with daily media team administration. This includes helping manage a busy media team inbox and direct enquiries, distributing media releases and posting them to the department’s website
- Assistance with media monitoring. This could include setting up news alerts for the Environment and Water side of the department, providing paywalled media articles to departmental staff, and ordering and checking transcripts.
- Monitoring departmental activities including parliamentary committees and Senate Estimates.
- providing assistance to other members of the team as required.

The Media Team is seeking a keen person who wants to further their career in a dynamic and fast-moving media team staffed by both communication and journalism professionals. We are seeking someone with a strong interest in our departments issues and policies who is eager to learn about strategic media management and to help our team perform to its very best.

**Skills and capabilities**:

- Ability to work in a fast-moving dynamic environment as part of a team
- Ability to quickly gain a working knowledge of the department’s policies and operations
- Good writing and editing skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to quickly develop strong working relationships and gather information.

**Qualifications**:

- A tertiary qualification in communications or journalism or related qualification

**Security Clearance**:

- This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
