**The role**:
For this consulting role, we are seeking an Australian energy market expert. This expert will support two of our three key business areas (Consulting and Market Intelligence Reports) through their knowledge, analysis and insight.
The Energy Market Specialist will be required to support the management of new and existing consulting projects, ensuring they are delivered professionally to the customers’ requirements, on budget and on time. You will also be expected to identify new opportunities to upsell products and services, as well as help with the development of new products.

As an expert, we would ideally like you to have knowledge of the following:

- How the NEM operates, including an understanding generator behaviour, transmission constraints
- The transformation of the NEM
- An understanding of regulatory and policy changes, such as AEMC rule changes
- An understanding of gas markets as they operate in Australia (preferred)
- Furthermore, in supporting the Consulting team, you will support and collaborate with other consultants and the Managing Consultant with the delivery of consultancy work, assisting with subscription reports and training where required, as well as engaging in stakeholder management and business development.

**The location**:

Key Responsibilities
- Undertaking analysis to answer the needs of customer project work, including developing methods of research and analysis
- Reporting to the Consultant Manager on the delivery of consultancy projects, maintaining the highest standards in content and analysis
- Lead on small/medium scale consulting projects under the guidance from Senior Consultants from inception through to completion, ensuring excellent client communication and satisfaction
- Analyzing the impact of policy and legislation changes for our clients
- Deal effectively with internal and external queries to ensure stakeholder’s needs are met, set expectations, and have good communications skills
- Feel confident presenting at training events
- Streamlining, improving, and developing current/new processes to continually strive towards the goals of the team and the wider business
- Take a proactive role in the team, contributing ideas and learnings to the business and our customers
- Business Provide support to team members as required

Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Curiosity, passion and interest in the energy market and a desire to learn more
- Excellent research, analytical, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills
- Self-motivated, able to meet deadlines and good organizational, and time management skills
- Strong writing capability and an ability to efficiently review and edit the written work of others
- Ability to work within a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Detailed knowledge of the Australian Energy Market, especially including regulatory, policy and market issues
- Ability to work flexibly to support colleagues, respond to client requests at short notice, and work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Confident presenter and communicator, accustomed to engaging with stakeholders

**Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable**:

- Electricity generation economics, levelized cost of different generation technologies, generator bidding behaviors
- Commercial / industrial energy usage and optimisation
- Zero Emissions Vehicle (hydrogen or electric) policy, regulation, technical, financial, and business case development, or associated work
- Financial project due-diligence, superior commercial acumen, understanding of the energy market financial approaches
- Experience in the assessment, negotiation, and implementation of routes to market and PPAs
