This is a non-ongoing part-time role of three days per week for 12 months with the possibility of an extension for a further six months.

**About the Section**
The Communications, Parliamentary and Events (CPE) team is a multidisciplinary and busy team responsible for communications strategies, stakeholder engagement, brand, external communications, publications (i.e. Annual Report, Corporate Plan), media relations, web publishing for nhmrc.gov.au, social media, internal communications, visual design, events, parliamentary and digital content design.

We serve as the external voice for all media enquiries and strive to inform and educate our stakeholders (both internal and external), using a multi-channel approach to inform stakeholders, delivering accurate and timely information for NHMRC’s CEO and General Manager.

**Job specific duties**
As the Design Specialist you will:

- Develop creative concepts and visual assets aligned with NHMRC’s brand
- Provide guidance on digital strategies and platforms
- On occasions, edit website content in Drupal and ensure WCAG 2.2 compliance
- Maintain consistency in messaging and presentation.

**Core capabilities**
- Proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
- Strong communication skills and stakeholder management
- Accountability in task completion and teamwork
- Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 standards and Drupal web publishing
- Ability to build rapport with stakeholders and work within brand guidelines.

**Highly desirable**
Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the following will be highly regarded:

- Use, analysis, and reporting from Google Analytics
- Experience in web standards, particularly accessibility compliance
- Photo/video editing skills
- Tertiary education in Graphic Design or, similar/equivalent experience
