**Primary purpose of the role**:
Coordinate and undertake programs, projects and activities research and provide advice in relation to intergovernmental issues.

**Key accountabilities**:

- Undertake components of intergovernmental activities policies and projects for the NSW Health Service, the Ministry of Health and related government agencies to contribute to the work of the Government Relations Branch.
- Assist in the preparation of high quality written advice in the form of reports, briefs, policy, discussion papers

or circulars to inform or respond to requests.
- Liaise with key staff in staff in the Ministry, public health organisations and stakeholder representatives to communicate NSW Health’s position, objectives, and priorities.
- Participate in the planning and monitoring of projects to assist with the achievement of the Branch’s objectives.
- Contribute to the development of sound information, policies and advice, in order to maximise the achievement of Government and NSW Health goals and needs.

**Key challenges**:

- Completing projects and providing well-researched and balanced advice within agreed timeframes and performance standards whilst also managing a fluctuating workload of other tasks.
- Maintaining familiarity with a range of current policy and initiatives impacting on the Government Relations Branch, within NSW Health, so that projects and policy advice reflect current knowledge and best practice.
- Developing effective working relationships with NSW central agencies, interjurisdictional colleagues, public health organisations and stakeholder representatives, given diverse needs and viewpoints.
