**About the role**

The purpose of the Aboriginal Youth Mentor is to assist in implementation of the 3Bridges Community Burbangana Program. This will be done by engaging with Aboriginal young people aged 12-24 to identify needs within the community and ensure they have the information, knowledge and skills to make informed choices and reduce risk factors. You will provide advocacy and serve as a role model through case management, mentoring, targeted program delivery and Youth and Community Development. This is an Aboriginal identified position.
- Provide information and advocacy for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander young people aged 12-24, empowering them to make positive and informed life choices
- Work closely with other service providers to coordinate and deliver activities, as well as support and engage vulnerable Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander young people and their families
- Provide support and a high quality of direct care to Aboriginal & Torres Strait islander young people, ensuring their needs are met as outlined in their individual support plans
- Work closely with the Burbangana Program Coordinator to implement therapeutic interventions that will assist the individual with complex issues such as grief/loss, making friends, managing their feelings, study and entering the workforce.
- Contribute to a monthly written report covering highlights and outcomes achieved by the Burbangana Program
- Actively promote the service to the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Community

**About You**
- You have lived experience as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
- You have experience working with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Communities or Case Work is highly regarded
- No formal tertiary qualifications required however community-based qualifications or experience will be highly regarded
