An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Merchandise Planner to join a dynamic team at FINE-DAY.

Reporting directly to the GM of Merchandise Planning, this role will be crucial in developing merchandise budgets and forecasts, establishing gridding/store profiling, and crafting option assortment plans to effectively trade the business across all channels.

**THE ROLE**:

- Establish seasonal class plans for sales, stock, OTB, markdowns, and stock turn.
- Work across a broad range of categories and product types, from homewares to giftware and apparel.
- In-season trading: review current performance and recommend future replans to maximize sales and profit performance.
- Establish and maintain item plans for all key items, ensuring optimal inventory levels are maintained.
- Collaborate with the Creative Director to develop monthly option plans and buy quantities.
- Manage the store gridding and allocation process based on sales, store capacity, and demographic.
- Present at weekly trading meetings, providing analysis and recommendations for future strategy.
- Liaise with the General Manager on store needs and stock issues/opportunities.
- Work with Buyers/Designers on size, color, and related product analysis & OTB updates.
- Work alongside the shipping and accounts department to manage the buying budget, from PO placement to supplier delivery.

**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE**:

- A tertiary qualification or equivalent in Business, Commerce, or Retail Management (preferred).
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in merchandise planning.
- Strong understanding of both Australian and international gift and homewares markets.
- Hands-on experience with planning tools like Retek, D365, or similar systems.
- Exceptional numerical and analytical skills.
- Proven ability in forecasting and financial management.
- Proficiency in MS Office Programs i.e. Excel, Word and Outlook
- Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong commercial acumen with an understanding of market trends and store demands.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent team collaboration skills.
