The Team

In our Retail Banking division, our Customers are at the forefront of everything we do, and the National Operations Team provides support to the Retail Network in achieving “Operational Excellence” whilst helping to contribute to the expected business results. To achieve this, we will provide effective and efficient support, via a seamless approach encompassing one operations contact point for all enquiries.

Your role

The Manager Retail Operations Centre will support the Senior Manager National Operations to execute the National Operations Strategy for Retail Banking to drive an Operational Excellence coaching culture, minimising operational risks, and enhancing the experience for our Customers.

As an experienced people leader, and an ‘Operational Excellence’ expert, the role will be charged with leading the Retail Operations Centre, supporting the State’s operational administration functions for all of the Retail Banking Network. Continuous improvement is a key driver, and by reviewing key operational risks and how we operate, the role will find efficiencies and implement ‘a better way’ of doing things to ensure our support continues to meet the needs of our customers.

In this Leadership role, the skills vital to its success are a commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement with a strong focus on performance and people capability and development to manage a high performing ‘Centre of Excellence’ team as well as being able to lead in an agile and flexible environment.

This is a full-time position, and we are happy for you to be based anywhere, provided you have access to one of our head or regional offices, OR a home office with a good internet connection. You will become part of a team who are located in different places, but still in constant contact to bounce ideas off each other, provide support where needed, or just a friendly chat.

Your knowledge & experience

Proven ability to lead and influence at all levels of the organisation
Demonstrated success in driving process improvement and transformation
Experience in motivating and leading a team to achieve customer service and operational targets
Proven capacity to champion and lead change
Strong presentation skills, including the ability to make formal presentations both to internal stakeholders and external partners.
In depth knowledge of branch operations, risk and compliance, policies and procedures
A demonstrated interest and passion for the future of our branch network
Some knowledge of Lending processes would be advantageous
Experience in identifying and managing risk related to brand and reputation
Ability to tie business operation back to strategic intent
Change management experience
Experience with successfully leading teams across multiple sites would be desirable
Experience in either/both project and change management
