The Development Officer will be responsible for supporting the development of RWE’s Renewable Energy projects in Australia, covering wind, solar and storage (or a hybrid combination thereof) ensuring that projects progress to final investment decision. The Development Officer will also be involved in supporting the business to inform its development strategy, and support other areas of the business as required including construction and operations. The Development Officer will be interested in a career in renewables and have a background in community engagement.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Assisting with and leading community engagement such as door knocking, mail outs, at the direction of Development Managers
- Manage and participate in community open days for renewable energy projects, ensuring successful engagement with the community.
- Supporting the development team in day to day activities as required by the lead Development Managers including but not limited to:
- preparing project schedules, budgets, meetings and presentations
- completing and maintaining registers
- Preparing and completing internal and external reporting
- Compiling site information including constraints, topography, cadastral data.
- Manage and undertake desktop and site scouting activities to identify new potential renewable energy projects and present opportunities to the team in a concise manner.
- Support and ensure transfer of information between development and technical teams and manage timeframes.
- Liaise with external consultants to ensure efficient information exchange to obtain relevant studies throughout development process.
- Review external consultants safety documentation.
- Support the development team in discussions with all relevant stakeholders including land holders, government authorities, local communities and other stakeholders.
- Conduct regular site visits to consult with stakeholders, assisting in on-site studies, inspect monitoring equipment, and escort contractors, as required.
- Build your knowledge up of the development process to continue to add value to the development team.

**Experience and Qualifications**
**Strongly desired**
- 1-5 years of experience in the renewables energy sector
- Experience preparing and performing community engagement
- Interest in the development of wind, solar and battery projects
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, town and regional planning, environmental planning (desirable)
- Collaborative and supportive team member with Development experience in the renewable energy sector
- Capability or interest in the use of QGIS (or ArcGIS) to support all development activities
- Ability to work proactively both autonomously and within a team
- Ability to operate at a detailed level, to organize and prioritise, with a dedication to seeing projects through to completion
- Strong time management skills
- Interest in and a broad understanding of the National Electricity Market (NEM)
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as required
- Ability to work cooperatively in cross-cultural teams, collaborating across country boundaries with a sense for diversity and inclusion
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Additional skills in related areas will be viewed favorably
