**Position Descriptor**:
Surrey Downs Primary School is seeking a passionate and dynamic educator for a temporary specialist teaching role in Science and Technologies, working with students from Reception to Year 6. This exciting opportunity comes at a pivotal time for our school, with a $16.5 million site redevelopment currently underway. While we already offer learning in a well-equipped STEM facility, this major investment will further enhance our capacity to deliver high-quality, future-focused education.
Located in the Tea Tree Gully area, Surrey Downs Primary School is a small, inclusive community catering to approximately 145 students, including 7% Aboriginal students, 30% students with disabilities, and 2% students from EALD-funded backgrounds. Classified as a Category 6 school on the Department for Education Index of Educational Disadvantage, we offer both mainstream and special class programs. Our staff are dedicated to creating a supportive and engaging environment where all students are empowered to thrive.
In this specialist role, the successful applicant will teach Science and Technologies across eight classes, delivering three engaging lessons per week to each class, from Reception through to Year 6. The focus is on hands-on, inquiry-based learning that promotes curiosity, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Lessons will be delivered in our existing STEM facility, which will soon benefit from significant upgrades as part of the school's redevelopment. The position offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to whole-school STEM priorities, collaborate with a supportive team, and inspire a love of learning in every student.
