**About the Role**:
As a Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for the accurate processing and administration of payroll for government employees. Working in a collaborative team environment, you will support the payroll function by ensuring all pay-related transactions are completed in a timely and compliant manner. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in government payroll systems while contributing to a high-performing team.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Payroll Administration**: Process payroll data including pay calculations, allowances, deductions, and leave entitlements.
- **Data Entry & Accuracy**: Manage and input employee details and ensure master data is kept up to date, with a high level of attention to detail.
- **Payroll Queries**: Investigate and resolve payroll-related queries from staff, managers, and external agencies in a timely and professional manner.
- **System Support**: Assist in the administration and troubleshooting of payroll systems such as Chris21, and support system upgrades and changes.
- **Reporting & Compliance**: Contribute to the preparation of payroll reports, ensuring adherence to statutory requirements and internal policies.
- **Collaboration & Teamwork**: Work effectively within a team to meet payroll deadlines and contribute to the achievement of team goals.
**What We're Looking For**:
- **Payroll Experience**: Previous experience in payroll processing, data entry, or payroll systems administration.
- **Excel Proficiency**: Strong Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to manage large datasets and generate detailed reports.
- **Attention to Detail**: High level of accuracy in payroll data entry and processing.
- **Problem-Solving Abilities**: Ability to identify payroll discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently.
- **Team-Oriented**: Able to collaborate with colleagues and other departments to meet deadlines and deliver results.
- **Reliability & Integrity**: Proven track record of reliability, trustworthiness, and maintaining confidentiality in handling payroll information.
**Desirable Skills**:
- **Chris21 Experience**: Familiarity with the Chris21 payroll system is a bonus, but not a requirement.
- **Public Sector Knowledge**: Experience working in a government or large organisational setting will be beneficial.
