Project Support Officer

The purpose of the role is to assist in the preservation of Audio Visual (AV) records, including the coordination of digitisation and the facilitation of storage and management of the AV records held at QSA.

**In this role you will**:

- utilise ArchivesSpace (QSA's collection management system), Excel spreadsheets and undertake visual inspections to identify and retrieve AV records from repositories
- manage AV record locations in ArchivesSpace
- assess and preview AV records for condition and suitability for digitisation
- verify metadata in ArchivesSpace and spreadsheets to ensure correct selection of AV records for digitisation, and report any metadata anomalies to the Manager for review and amendment
- perform simple preservation actions on AV records, such as film-winding, splicing, shrinkage testing, and rehousing, in accordance with relevant policies and procedures
- operate digitisation and AV preservation equipment, including VHS video, flatbed scanners, overhead cameras and MFDs, manual and electronic film winders and film editing suite
- prepare AV records for transport to external digitisation providers
- review and validate records and files on return from digitisation providers against consignment lists
- liaise with AV digitisation providers and courier companies on digitisation and logístical issues
- maintain spreadsheets and validate information to ensure the integrity of the data recorded and prepare basic reports for the Manager as requested.
