At Nambour Special School, the Australian Curriculum forms the basis of our curriculum framework. We also draw specific curriculum content to meet individualised learning needs from AusVELS, Feila and PIVATS. Our pedagogical framework is based on the Art and Science of Teaching (ASOT). The school utilises a range of disability specific pedagogies including: Active Learning, TEACCH, Intensive Interaction and The Four Blocks Way to Literacy.
**About the Role**:
As the Head of Department (Curriculum) at Nambour Special School, you will play a vital role in improving the educational outcomes of students throughout our school as well as supporting, developing and leading quality teaching and learning.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance
- Monitor the impact of teaching and learning strategies through data analysis
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to developing the capacity of staff members to support student educational outcomes
- Demonstrate the gathering, analysis and use of data to make informed decisions about student learning needs
- Manage assessment data and ensure that it is available and accessible to teachers in order to enable its use to inform teaching and learning
- Develop staff data literacy through the provision of targeted professional development
- Provide curriculum leadership within the context of students with special needs, especially those accessing a Highly Individualised Curriculum (HIC)
- Share knowledge of evidence informed teaching practice and disability-specific pedagogies
