**About the Opportunity**

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the **Paediatric Medical Wards**team as a** Ward Clerk,**where you will be responsible for:

- Providing a friendly and professional front-line ward service to the department.
- Maintaining and preparing patient files/folders/noticeboards for admissions.
- Liaising regularly throughout the day with the shift coordinator, NUM/ANUM and ward staff regarding patient movements, admissions, discharges, and appointments as required.
- Maintaining accurate patient data on all patient information systems, for example SUNRISE and OACIS.
- Providing an administrative assistant support service to the Nurse Unit Manager and other staff as required, e.g. word processing, minute taking.
- Attending to, screening and appropriately directing telephone calls.

**About You**

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Previous administrative / clerical experience and familiarity with the use of windows and Microsoft Office products, e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Provide a consultancy and advisory service to management and staff at all levels to establish and maintain both integrity and confidentiality in dealing with issues of a sensitive nature.
- Work independently and under limited direction to meet deadlines and achieve agreed outputs whilst working with demanding and sometimes competing priorities.
- The ability to work effectively in a team and being able to communicate, both verbally and in writing, to a wide range of people on a range of sensitive and complex issues.
- Ability to deal with situations, staff and patients with maturity and empathy.
- Good working knowledge of Medical Terminology.
