**The Opportunity**

Our Infrastructure Services group embodies the spirit of entrepreneurship and optimism with the breadth, experience, and resources, one of Australia's largest electricity transmission providers. We are seeking a Contestable Asset Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be accountable for developing and managing the implementation of strategies, policies, and plans for high voltage customer assets to achieve best practice performance for customer directed assets and associated standards.

The role requires business acumen, insight, and agility to respond to competitive pressures and developments in both market and industry. The position reports to the Technical Project Director and it manages, coaches, mentors and leads the technical and associated operation aspects of the customer-connected assets.

**As the Contestable Asset Specialist, you will**:

- Manage asset and spares budgets within expected guidelines and service levels to meet ongoing operational objectives
- Identify strategic relationships and partnerships, to establish model that will help maximise customer reliability requirements and achieve improved EBITDA
- Identify standards and specifications to meet customer expectations with regard to connecting to the grid
- Identify opportunities for unique solutions, beyond the regulatory requirements, to match customer asset lives and risk profiles
- Coordinate portfolio view of customer assets throughout the asset lifecycle, developing asset and supply strategies
- Direct the development, communication, and monitoring of the effectiveness of asset management strategies for customer and contestable assets
- Maintain expert understanding of competitor solutions and market trends in contestable connection assets
- Provide effective technical direction and advice to all levels within TransGrid
- Identify a spares strategy to support the customer portfolio and develop an asset investment strategy
- Provide innovative engineering strategy to improve the business strategy and support the innovation team in developing new products
- Coordinate and act as a customer advocate in relation to outage and regulatory impacts on customer assets
- Effectively communicate between customers and network managers
- Identify and manage inventory write offs for substation assets
- Lead the budgetary and owner function within contestable business for failed or ageing equipment
- Technically review, coordinate and support asset lead investigations into equipment failures and performance of substation assets, and assess recommendations for commercial investment to support customers
- Develop, implement and manage policies, procedures and standards for the network asset lifecycle
- Adopt risk management techniques which minimise, or at least manage to acceptable levels, Transgrid's exposure to potential liabilities

**Skills & Experience**

What we expect from you:

- Extensive experience in the optimisation and management of long term assets, to maximise commercial outcomes within an appropriate risk profile
- Extensive knowledge of national and international technical standards related to high voltage engineering
- Experience with delivering customer connections and assets across the NEM
- Excellent communication skills including writing and delivering presentations to a variety of audiences
- Excellent interpersonal skills required to liaise with customers, management, and technical staff of other organisations
- Proven ability in managing and negotiating preferred customer outcomes
- Demonstrated experience in financial structures and strategies to mitigate asset risk including insurance, spares and long term efficiency opportunities
- Tertiary qualifications at degree level in an appropriate discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
