**Position Information**:
Carlingford High School, (enrolment 1610 students, including 83 % from a non-English speaking background) is a comprehensive, co-educational school, with a strong commitment to and expectation of excellence. The delivery of quality literacy programs, the promotion of student well-being, and the ongoing development of high-quality teaching and learning programs are key strategic directions. Staff are experienced and supported by an informed and committed parent body. In a diverse curriculum, there is a strong emphasis on quality teaching, the use of evidenced based approaches to maximise student outcomes and the maintenance of high expectations across all areas of school life.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. As the second Head Teacher Welfare in the school, demonstrated capacity to collaboratively build an effective wellbeing team and professionally develop staff across the school to support and promote student wellbeing.

2. Proven capacity to effectively case manage complex student wellbeing needs and liaise with external agencies and departments to coordinate and engage appropriate support to facilitate improved student engagement in learning.

3. Demonstrated ability and expertise to lead, implement and evaluate strategic initiatives and Department policies and practices that support student wellbeing and the improvement of student learning outcomes in a high performing school.

4. A commitment and willingness to work collaboratively as a proactive member of the executive team and in support of the school's strategic vision and whole school priorities.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
