In Australia, we operate a select, highly skilled, internationally diverse engineering team, providing engineering and design advisory services to Australia's naval programs. Our team holds expertise across naval architecture, marine engineering, nuclear engineering, safety and security, systems engineering, integrated logistics support, engineering consulting and acquisition program management.

**Job Description**:
**Your New Role**

Gibbs & Cox have an opportunity for an experienced engineer with a strong background in Naval Fire Fighting Systems and naval ship survivability, to support our Australian naval sector clients.

The position will include the following responsibilities:

- Technical stakeholder engagement
- Developing functional and statutory requirements for FF systems on naval ships and/or test facilities
- Developing conceptual functional arrangements for FF systems on naval ships and/or test facilities
- Supporting facility acquisition including business case, risk management, safety case
- Supporting management of WHS legislation requirements

**Qualifications**:
**Principal Naval Architect Characteristics**

The position requires the following high-level attributes:

- Substantial technical and operational experience with firefighting systems in a marine environment
- Experience developing mechanical system requirements and specifications
- Provide engineering advice and solutions in relation to naval Fire Fighting Systems
- Engineering experience in relation to health, safety and hazard investigations
- Participating in bid and tender evaluation teams
- Excellent communication skills

Important / desirable attributes:

- Acquisition management in complex projects
- Experience developing Contract, Tender, and Construction documentation
- Safety management
- Facility management or operation
- Knowledge of systems engineering processes

Additional Information

The successful applicant is required to hold a valid NV1 security clearance or have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid security clearance as well as other mandatory background checks including a National Police check.
