**About the role**

Every one of our team contributes to helping make our members’ world better. As a Risk Specialist in our Member team, you will assist the Manager, Service Recovery & Risk to manage audit, risk and regulatory requirements and support in promoting a strong risk culture ensuring alignment to the enterprise risk management framework.

Key accountabilities will include:

- Assist in the identification, evaluation, analysis and remediation of risk related issues, breaches or incidents including changes to controls and improvement opportunities to prevent re-occurrence.
- Responsible for periodic review & testing of the effectiveness of key controls critical to the management of identified risks
- Perform the role of the Screening Party for the Business Unit in accordance with the Incident and Breach Reporting policy.
- Assist in monitoring compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, procedures and controls including through the fulfilment of the Business Unit audit requirements including the collection and provision of necessary documentary evidence and collaboration with internal business stakeholders and external audit partners.
- Assist in the identification of remediation plans and actions to address audit findings and provide guidance and support to risk control owners to undertake remediation actions.
- Provide input and advice regarding risk management and controls in relation to proposed technology and process improvements, projects and initiatives impacting the Business Unit.
- Assist the uplift in risk maturity to ensure the business unit is operating within risk appetite and facilitate the identification, design and control effectiveness to mitigate risks across the Business.
- Represent the Business Unit at Compliance and Risk forums, workshops and meetings.

This role is available as a 12 month max-term/ secondment opportunity.

**About you**

- A genuine passion for and interest in business improvement, compliance, internal control and risk management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively engage and develop positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including leaders, auditors and front-line staff.
- An ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative and self-motivation.
- Demonstrated experience in determining, undertaking and tracking the progress of remediation actions and plans in order to address control gaps and improve the management of risks.
- Proven ability to treat sensitive information in a private and confidential manner and to exercise tact and sound judgement in communicating with others regarding sensitive matters.
- Demonstrated experience in the design, documentation and management of compliance, risk and controls frameworks for service channels.
- An ability to explain complex concepts and matters in writing and verbally in a manner which enables the audience to understand the key points and effectively conveys the intended message.
