**About the role**:
The purpose of this position is to lead innovation in land management, with a focus on strategic risk mitigation around fire and natural hazards. You will manage research programs, identify emerging innovations, and drive improvement projects to protect FCNSW assets. This role requires collaboration across divisions and support for compliance initiatives.
This role works closely with the Softwood Plantation Division and Hardwood Forest Division and members of the Division Leadership Teams, including the Senior Manager Fire & Natural Hazards, on Division-wide initiatives.
**We would love you to have/be**:

- Tertiary qualifications in forestry, land management, fire or emergency management, or relevant experience.
- Expertise in technology, innovation, and managing research projects
- Strong leadership skills
- Financial acumen
- Proven ability to plan, prioritise, and meet deadlines in a high-risk environment.
- Knowledge of forestry management (e.g., fire management, pest control, silviculture).
- Significant experience in large, complex organisations, ideally in resource management or regulated industries.
- Experience in emergency management, including fire prevention and disaster response.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proven track record of driving change and performance improvements.
