Are you passionate about public health and want to contribute to positioning Australia as a world leader in public health?
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the Department of Health and Aged Care at the SES Band 1 level to lead the Public Health Branch.
As the Assistant Secretary, Public Health Branch you will have responsibility for leading the national public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as monitoring and developing responses to all notifiable infectious diseases. You will also have responsibility for the policy response to antimicrobial resistance including development of an integrated One Health Surveillance System.
You will provide national leadership, advice, analysis, coordination, and communication on health protection policy.
You will oversight international and national surveillance and develop evidence-based policy to support a national response. You will be comfortable driving the development of integrated analysis using contemporary data assets and leading data analysis capabilities. Your work will be integral to the establishment of the Australian Centre for Disease Control including the further design and development of national surveillance capacity and capability.
