Join Roy Morgan on a landmark national study exploring how life in Australia affects the mental health and wellbeing of our young people. Beginning November 2025, our Field Research Officers will visit selected households to conduct structured, face-to-face interviews with people who agree to participate. Your resilience, professionalism and people skills will help turn “cold” introductions at the door into participation, delivering high-quality, representative evidence used by policy makers to shape better services and outcomes for young Australians.

**What you’ll do**
- Visit assigned households and confidently initiate conversations
- Build rapport quickly, manage refusals and objections respectfully
- Follow safety and privacy protocols, and maintain strict confidentiality
- Plan your weekly schedule including at least one weekend day
- Work between 20 and 30 hours per week

**All interviews are conducted using Roy Morgan’s secure systems. You’ll receive full training, a clear field manual and ongoing support from experienced Field Managers.**

**Who is best suited for this role**
- **Resilient relationship-builder**: You approach each door with the same friendly and professional approach, regardless of outcome.
- **Empathetic communicator**: You listen well, handle sensitive topics with care, and adapt your style to suit different households.
- **Organised self-starter**: You manage your time, plan routes, keep tidy records, and meet targets without constant supervision.
- **Tech-comfortable**: Confident using a tablet and following on-screen scripts and protocols exactly as trained.

**Nice-to-have**: experience in field interviewing, door-to-door outreach or sales, call centre/customer service, community work, or education/youth services.

**Why you should apply**
- **Purpose with impact**: Your work will inform policies and services that support young people and families across Australia.
- **Flexibility with structure**: Choose your weekly schedule (with minimum hours) and work close to home where possible.
- **If you love to travel** - we also have opportunities for work related travel to regional Australia or interstate.
- **Training & support**: We equip you with the skills, tools and guidance to succeed—no previous research experience required.
- **Professional standards**: Be part of a respected team known for quality, accuracy and confidentiality.

**Essentials**
- Availability of 20+ hours per week (including one weekend day; flexibility to add hours at peak times)
- Current driver’s licence and a reliable, registered vehicle
- Fluent English (spoken and written) and the legal right to work in Australia
- **Willingness to obtain and pass a National Police Check and Working with Children Check** (paid by Roy Morgan)

**How to apply**

The Young Minds Our Future project will commence in **November 2025** and conclude in **May 2026**. While this role is connected to that project, Roy Morgan regularly runs a variety of other projects throughout the year. Where you meet the relevant project criteria, we can often offer additional work and hours beyond this project.
