**Introduction**:
Disaster Relief Australia (DRA) unites the skills and experience of veterans and other volunteers to help communities prepare for and recover from disaster.
A growing not-for-profit DRA operates across Australia to provide help and assistance to those impacted by disaster, including floods, fires and cyclones.
**Description**:
Part-time
The Disaster Relief & Recovery Team (DRRT) Second-in-Command (2IC) is responsible for assisting the development and implementation of DRRT volunteer leadership, operational and training development and supporting equipment supply and maintenance.
The DRRT 2IC will understudy the Assoc Dir and be able to temporarily assume duties as needed.
**Skills and Experiences**:
Key accountabilities
Under the direction of the DRRT Associate Director, assist to administrate and facilitate operational success of the DRRT.
Volunteer Leadership
- Interact and support DRRT interests with other DRA departments.
- Support the development of the DRRT Volunteer Leadership Team (VLT).
- Support implementation of organisational priorities, processes and procedures.

Undertake key administrative, operational, training and logistics tasks as directed by the Assoc Dir.
Operation & Training Development
- Assist in enhancing DRRT management capability and capacity.

Assist in preparation of Operational and Training OpOrds and planning documentation.
Follow and use the Ops Responsibility Matrix to achieve successful deployment outcomes for Disaster Relief Australia.
Be the key Point of Contact in Training and Capability Planning with internal DRA departments, particularly National Training.
Attend Operational, Training & Logistics planning meetings to represent DRRT operational requirements.
Logistics Oversight
Support the volunteer Logistics Team to maintain equipment capability, including maintenance and resources support for all DRRT training.
Identify deficiencies and produce solutions for effective checklist, processes and equipment control.
Capabilities for the role
Be available to undertake the majority of your duties during business hours, in order to ensure collaboration and planning between yourself, the DRRT Assoc Director, other DRA staff, volunteers and external stakeholders.
- Some after hours work will occasionally be required.
- Some weekend work will occasionally be required.
- Time flexibility for some tasks is available.

Be competent with use of a computer, in particular Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
Be familiar with, or willing to learn to use cloud-based documents via Microsoft Sharepoint.
