We are responsible for ensuring the integrity of Medicare, the PBS and a range of other Australian Government health programs. We look for trends and patterns in data that may indicate inappropriate, inaccurate or fraudulent claiming by health providers. We test our observations through research and extensive stakeholder engagement, and we design and develop strategies and interventions to address non-compliance and influence long term behaviour.
Risk Treatment Officers manage multiple compliance projects and strategies simultaneously, reviewing claiming across a range of health programs. You don't need to be a healthcare expert, but you need to be prepared to ask questions and draw in expertise at the right time - reaching out to internal or external stakeholders. You need to be an exceptional communicator, both in writing and verbally, and be prepared to recommend decisions underpinned by evidence and your own research and analysis.
