The opportunity

The Chief Data & Analytics Officer is a strategic senior role which owns the vision and strategy for QBE’s Data and Analytics function in the Australian Pacific region, connected to our global data and analytics community.

Reporting to QBE’s Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer, as Chief Data & Analytics Officer you will collaborate with senior leaders across the local and global business, defining the data & analytics strategy for the division and building organisational support for QBE’s strategic use of data and analytics to ensure informed decision-making.

In this key management role you will lead and further develop a high performing Data & Analytics team, fostering an inclusive culture and a passion for the role of data in delivering exceptional outcomes for QBE’s customers.

Key accountabilities include:
- Establish and own the strategic vision and plan for Data & Analytics in the Australian Pacific region in support of business priorities and the Transformation agenda- Build a diverse, vibrant and engaged Data & Analytics team, with clear career paths, development opportunities and a collaborative culture- Advocate for the role of Data & Analytics in delivering the strategy and build Executive and stakeholder buy-in and support for the D&A strategy- Establish and build support for the strategic evolution of the Data & Analytics Platform (DAP) as AUSPAC's strategic data hub, working closely with QBE’s Technology team- Manage data governance strategies, practices and requirements- Work effectively with diverse stakeholders in a global enterprise- Ensure the maintenance and uplift of local data governance policies and the data democratization, data literacy and data culture uplift required to embed these policies- Represent AUSPAC Data and Analytics to Board, prudential and regulatory authorities as required

You will be an experienced data and/or analytics leader comfortable operating at a senior level within a large and complex enterprise. In your career you will ideally have worked with both data and analytics and possess knowledge of industry-leading practices you can bring to benefit QBE and our customers.

- Ability to build, lead and inspire a diverse team of technical experts to have broad business impact- Digital mindset and curiosity to learn more- Influencing, negotiation and exceptional stakeholder management skills- Experience managing complex, commercial and regulated data hubs / data platforms- Knowledge of industry leading practices and tools in relation to Data and Analytics as well as contemporary approaches to data engineering, data & analytics platforms and security management- Ability to manage teams for impact in a variety of management modes (agile delivery, chapters and communities or practice, outsourced, contractors, vendors, offshore)- Strong business acumen and alignment with QBE’s core cultural DNA
