**The opportunity we have available**

The People Branch supports the department to achieve its strategic outcomes by providing a range of client-focused advice and essential services through building and sustaining a workplace culture of inclusivity, integrity and professionalism, reflective of a modern and responsive public service. The Workforce Analytics, Capability and Strategy section has three main functions:

- **Workforce Analytics** - who provide workforce reporting and metrics to support workforce strategy and decision making. They provide accurate responses to requests for Senate Estimates, workforce planning and strategy, compliance and integrity. They are also responsible for the design and delivery of the People at a Glance Dashboard.
- **People Capability** - who build workforce capability to develop and embed core, leadership, and specialist skills. They maintain a curriculum of training courses, summits, conferences and programs for staff. They are also responsible for the department’s Learning Strategy and the Learning and Development Calendar.
- **Workforce Strategy** - who develop and implements workforce strategies and workforce planning for the department. They are responsible for the coordination of APS-wide initiatives including the APS Employee Census, APS Agency Survey and the APS Reform initiatives. The team also manage Rewards and Recognition for the department, including the Secretary’s Awards.
What will you do?

This position involves supporting the department in its decision making and compliance capabilities by ensuring people data is both accurate and accessible, this includes the developing of new reports and ways of reporting to adapt the team to changing environments and resources. This involves working with stakeholders to further understand reporting and analytical needs, and learning to anticipate these needs effectively. This role guides the strategic role of the team within the department and seeks to enable a culture of innovation whilst maintaining data privacy and security.

**What will you do?**

This position supports the branch direction by enhancing digital and data literacy, and providing meaningful data to support decisions which ultimately end up affecting staff.

Particular responsibilities of the role include:

- Manage and present, or contribute to clear and concise written reports and briefs for senior executive on complex and/or sensitive matters.
- Manage the preparation of analytic related documentation that present clear and actionable business insights.
- Work with stakeholders to understand requirements, translating business needs into data-driven solutions.
- Develop and deliver high-quality reporting products, ensuring alignment with user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Improve efficiency by creating a 'single source of truth' for all reporting, using rich and drillable visualisations.
- Manage reporting projects end-to-end, from requirements gathering to development and implementation.
- Adhere to coding and technical standards while ensuring accessibility and user experience considerations are met.
- Test and validate data to ensure accuracy and reliability of reports.
- Collaborate with business areas and technical teams to drive efficiencies and enable strategic decision-making.
- Store, handle and release sensitive data in accordance with legislative requirements and Departmental policies and procedures.
- Manage a small team to achieve objectives and outcomes.
- Promote and champion an inclusive and diverse workplace culture and ensure all staff are valued and recognised for their qualities, ideas and perspectives.
- Demonstrate ethical behaviour and integrity to enhance team culture and contribute to a positive workplace.

- High levels of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI and have experience in reporting from SAP.
