**About the role**
As the Team Leader you will be part of a supportive leadership team reporting directly to the Director Water Wetlands and Coastal Science. You will be committed to working collaboratively with a geographically dispersed project team, across the Branch, within the Science and Insights Division, and across Biodiversity Conservation and Science Group and other NSW government agencies to deliver customer-focused results from scientific projects and to consistently deliver high quality data and advice.
As Team Leader, you will:
- Coordinate and manage project implementation, including preparing project plans, identifying and coordinating resources, developing and managing budgets and delivering reports to a high standard.
- Provide the highest standards of open communication, collaboration, data and knowledge management in accordance with department policies.
- Guide and oversee stakeholder and community engagement activities to foster collaboration on project outcomes and deliverables
- Provide expert advice and support to the Science and Insights Division on the development, implementation, management and reporting of scientific projects, ensuring that technical and scientific considerations are properly considered by the Division.
The Water Wetlands and Coastal Science Branch’s Climate Change Adaptation team is a small team of specialist modelers and scientists investigating options for climate change adaptation in aquatic environments. Our work includes state-wide and regional strategic assessments aimed at understanding key risks, hazards, threats and opportunities within NSW estuaries, coast, marine and freshwater wetland environments as well as the provision of improved data and tools to underpin ecosystem management under a changing climate.
**About You**
You will lead the design and drive delivery of Water Wetlands and Coastal Science programs and strategies to internal and external customers in line with priorities in DCCEEW science and knowledge programs
You will have:
- Extensive experience in developing and leading rigorous science programs
- Stakeholder recognition of expertise in aquatic ecosystem science programs
- Demonstrated ability to lead a flexible, multi-disciplinary team maximising opportunities for collaboration and delivering customer focussed results from science programs.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and foster relationships with peers including in government agencies and external clients and collaborators to deliver science programs.
**Essential requirements**:
- **Scientific degree in a relevant field and/or demonstrated experience developing and leading rigorous, discrete, science programs in a relevant scientific discipline**
